Presbyterian Women enjoying summer coffee.
Eleven members and one guest gathered for their summer coffee on Wednesday morning, June 3.
The annual Birthday Offering was dedicated and the two recipients of this year's national Birthday Offering were highlighted.
The first recipient will be "His Kids, Too!", a Christian organization in the Ukraine which provides homes, health care, education, and an encouraging environment for over 5,000 homeless children.
This year's grant from Presbyterian Women will be used to build an additional home for about 30 children with special needs.
The second recipient will be a group founded in 1981 called La Mujer Obrera, translated into English as "The Working Woman."
The grant will be used to revitalize a South Central neighborhood of El Paso, Texas, by creating viable economic development alternatives for unemployed female factory workers and other Spanish-speaking, low-income women and their families.
They will provide bilingual workforce preparedness, cultural celebrations, and a cross-border trading network with indigenous women's artisan cooperatives in Mexico.
Following the offering dedication, coffee cake and fruit compote were served by Naomi Circle members.
